When it says '5 star followers only' (ex. Floor 5) is it referring to the team, or all of your followers?

u should redownload it again it just 30 mb on obb folder that obb is need so u wont stuck at first screen , the other file it will auto download on after tutorial.

Its okay With 5* with ur mod lol it will be easy to farm in daily event to get a 6* team

Are you on phone or emulator? If on maybe install the normal version again, set up a new code and save the obb file. Or transfer to another phone/emulator and then back again, some won't do it if it's the same devoce.
