If I'm understanding your post correctly you're saying there are no hacks In this game? What makes the one here any different from the playstore version then?

No. As the first post said, no Hoots are required to unlock the stories.
If you want to continue in the PS version, but are without Hoots, you have to wait X time for Hoots to recharge.

It's the same concept of Energy games, where you have to wait for it to recharge and use it to continue your campaign.
Here instead of missions is the continuation of stories.
