Hello,
I was wondering how exactly google play or a game developer (for example EA in Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes) might catch me using a modified apk. I am not upset as I knew the risks involved. I am wondering what methods they use. who does the root detection? is it on app launch? What are the different methods an app detects a root? Which of those methods does rootcloak cover up? which methods are left open and why? Are there other methods that we know exist but don't know how they function?
I was playing with a modified of that game; and I did not have rootcloak activated at the time. I read on their website that there are different types of ways to detect root. A fellow player confirmed that it is easy to detect a rooted system (I am using bluestacks). I also feel that I got greedy and climbed the ladder too fast. I have since learned from my mistake on a new account.
I also know that when I spend money in game, there is a many month time delay from a hosting service like Apple or Google Play to sending the company the money. I immediately get my items since the hosting service tells the company to do it; but the game developers don't actually receive their money right away.
My hypothesis is this:
As a result due to the time lag; I could spend some money on the game and cheat but be smarter about it and not be greedy. Even if rootcloak doesn't hide my root and EA discovers I am rooted, they probably won't care unless someone reports me, but I have stopped the need to be reported as I won't advance too fast. So I may end up on some type of list to watch out for. They won't ban/suspend me because I have spent money on the game and they want it so will forego that.
The best thing to do is never get reported by using the modded apk wisely. Then use rootcloak. Lastly, spend a little money ($20 in my case) to give them less incentive to ban me.
Is my hypothesis sound? Am I skipping anything? Is there something I've left out?
