Avoid anything that has a ranking, IE time trials, maze of trials, some specific stages within events have a ranking, you have to read specifically if it'll be ranked and if you use mods on it you'll likely be banned 99% of the game has no risk of ban, I have 4 accounts been playing for years. (As an aside the exception to this is tower of trials, that's fine, avoid anything else that has "trial" in it or as you mentioned pvp aspects / multiplayer would be my rule of thumb)

The Devs know which accounts use mods but they won't ban you if you only use mod in pve and you will 99% get banned if you use mod in pvp or ranked events
