No they didn't forget. They couldn't leech our mod anymore so they stopped.

Is there any way to update the game to non mod version first? As there is a 3rd anniversary event on CN version, it would be great if I can get into the account.

Unless you root your phone, the other way is remove the game and install from playstore.
Provided that you remember to link your game first.
