Yes, you're good with just damage multiplier.
I'm personally using 1000x on Vasco Shot with the auto button and I can clear it easily with a F2P team + Moria Friend Captain (I don't know if this is importaant to win asap before Vasco gives some bad debuffs, but I'm using Brulee support to turn block orbs to matching on the last stage for more damage). As for the Marco event, I don't know because I'm only playing vs Vasco at the moment.

I can't know beforehand, also, I didn't used 1 wave so no error message for me. That's the first time that this kind of message appears on Kizuna when 1 wave is used. It should be that one of you that had this error tells everyone else what happens the next Kizuna, if you are permanently banned from Kizuna or it was a one-time thing, similar to getting point locked in TM.
I'm curious to know when this message appears...it appeared just once, when you've been detected cheating? You get it every single time at the start of the game? Every time when you tried to open Kizuna while it was active? When you try to open Kizuna while it's inactive but there's still time left to excange tickets for rewards (which is now, because there are still 2 days and 9 hours left to spend tickets)? When you try to open Kizuna while it's closed (you can test it in 2 days and 9 hours)?
I got that message when I tried to just do a run. all the rest the raids and so on let me do it. I saw the kizuna tickets that he makes me take them and also go to the shop inside the kizuna. That's plausible, I guess Pirate alliance will be watched closely because of tryharder modders. Problem's most likely 1 wave and we should avoid using it if we care about the account.
That's good to know. You guys probably lost the chance of getting v2 Nami orbs but at least in the shop it's possible to purchase the last 4 LB jewels to fully LB Sakazuki/Borsalino if you got all the others in previous kizunas.

App is crashing past few hrs after data download. The original play store app seems to be working correctly.
Am I missing some thing or should I wait for an update.

You will have to use the above APK in case you do fresh install or transfere account on login and if devs release small patches in game. It's something I can't really explain but it's very weird and with that APK it will download everything, once download finished simply install mod over it (you can install mod -> bypass -> mod).

Welcome aboard!
Don't be scared from the big wall of text, is for your own good!
TL;DR: 1 wave bad, never use; other 3 mods can always be active.
Among the 4 mods, the only one you have to be careful to use is 1 wave mod. Never use 1 wave in:
- TM (and in other levels while TM is active, as some users suggested)
- Blitz Battles (if we'll ever get some)
- Kizuna
- events that give points to get rewards thorugh ChopperMan Missions (like the current event vs Vasco Shot).
- fake Blitz Battles. They are events like a normal BB (get various rewards based on how many points you get and if you side with the winning team) but there is no ranking (so there are no extra rewards based on your rank and there aren't exclusive Pirate Titles if you rank in the top 100/1.000/10.000 or whatever the threshold was)
Damage multiplier:
- if you use it, remember that also enemies get it, so always activate God Mode because if an enemy attacks you thanks to their preemptive attack they will most likely kill you instantly.
- do not exaggerate. The limit is 9999999999x but it's a ridiculous multiplier that can potentially put you in danger if the cheat detection gets stricter (and it's already happening). Stick with 500x/1000x and you can play on auto with a decent team that gets fully boosted by the Captain Ability. Bring units that reduce "enemy Threshold Damage Reduction" and "Enemy Increased Defense" because this 2 enemy buffs are the most annoying (they hugely reduce your damage to the thousands if you use 500/1000 multiplier) or ignore them only if the enemy won't automatically kill you if you don't kill him fast: this happens in TM where if you don't beat a boss in (let's say) 3 turns and they have a 5 turn TDR/EID they will blow away all of your units (and if this happens while you have God Mode active you have to close the game and when you reopen it you have to click on "no" when the game asks you if you want to load the previous battle, so you will lose stamina for a normal level or some TM levels if it's a TM map).
- if the damage you deal is low because of Block orbs or ATK Down, play with your supports. I like to use this Support Brulee to change Block orbs to matching orbs in the last stage, this LRR Perospero to reduce both to reduce enemies' "Threshold Damage Reduction" and "Increased Defense duration" by 2 turns when the enemy gains those debuffs, or this LRR Tashigi that reduces ATK Down duration by 2 turns (and changes STR and QCK orbs on all characters into Matching Orbs) when the enemy inflicts you with ATK Down. They aren't F2P options but if you pulled for them or got them in Rayshop/Events tickets they are very handful.
- always use it when you use Damage Multiplier, because it counts also for the enemies. If an enemy attacks you with their preemptive attack they will most likely kill you instantly.
- not having to spend gems for box space is wonderful but if the updated mod is delayed by 1 day and you are really impatient to play the game you have to remove the modded game (SAVE YOUR ACCOUNT BY LINKING IT TO FACEBOOK OR TWITTER!!!) and install the official game (and download back all of your game data...). If thanks to the unlimited space mod you have more items than you should, the game will start with a popup saying that you have to use/sell items/units or buy box space. You are forced to fix the box space so there's no way you can play without this message appearing. At least you get the daily gem for the login but you can't play.
- do not exaggerate with an overloaded box. First of all is not good for your smartphone, it's more stressed because there are many things to load. Second thing is that if the cheat detection gets stricter and stricter, having an exaggerate amout of extra items is a big red target on your account. From time to time buy some space for your box, after all you have easy life with the mod and speding a dozen of gems each month for some space is not a deadly sin!
