Have you enabled permission to draw over apps? In the app settings, go down to advanced and the option should be there. In newer android versions it's required for overlays.

No, it's an advanced permission and doesn't ask - you have to enable yourself. Goto the app icon, hold down on it and click app info. That'll bring you to the app settings like force stop, permissions and all that. Scroll down to advanced and check if it's there.
