I've downloaded the PS game and did a couple of missions. Then I uninstalled it and installed the mod. I had to go through the tutorial again and the game got stuck when I had to equip a machine gun. I tried installing the mod over the original but that hasn't worked either.
Honestly, the steps you give are not very clear.

Look the instructions, you need install First "BASE .apk" not playstore version, then install mod over the base.apk

After stage one, I have to equip a machine gun but it won't get in the slot provided. Same problem as before, even using the base app.
