It will be intriguing to see how the AL anime handles the history of WW2 if they touch upon it.
Kantai Collection was always "NIPPON BANZAI!" and had an underlying habit of revisionism, due to it's early origins as a game marketed to Japanese military otaku, who were by nature more nationalistic and made up most of the esrly playerbase. The US were pretty much not-so-secretly the bad guys, though it was never officially stated. Heck one of the early event bosses was named Midway Princess. In the KC anime the IJN wins the implied Battle of Midway. KC only soften it's right wing stance later as KC grew in fame globally.
Azur Lane OTOH was made by the Chinese developers, and for obvious reasons has no Japanese revisionism. The game is pretty much pro-Allied Forces, and the player is left in no doubt that the Axis, and mainly Japan, are the baddies.
